What this state's numbers show

Sikkim has the lowest DPIIT recognition rate in the country by a wide margin: 15 of 97 entries, 15.5%, against 51.2% nationally. Recognition is a separate application a company has to make and DPIIT has to grant, so a low rate says something about uptake of that scheme here, not about whether these companies exist or trade. Gangtok holds 50.5%. The state's single Seed Fund incubator shows Rs 3.1 crore disbursed against Rs 3.0 crore approved, one of two places where the government's figures exceed their own ceiling.

About this data

Indian Startup Map is an independent directory built from the Government of India's Startup India register and other public sources, snapshot 2026-08. We do not run the register, we do not own or represent any company on it, and nothing here is an endorsement of one. Company names and logos belong to their owners. Every source is listed.

A dot on the map may be wrong, and most of them are not an address. Most startups sit at the centre of their district, which is a label position and not a place. Where we do hold something finer it is a geocode of a registered office, which is frequently a founder's home rather than a place of business, so we round it and never publish the address line.

Registration is not an operating signal. A large share of registered startups are dormant, and we have no way to tell you which. Figures come from our own count of that snapshot and will differ from the government's own census, which counts differently.
