Terms of use

A few things worth agreeing on before you use 4,53,192 government records that we did not create and cannot vouch for, and one section on the reports and exports we sell.

Using the site

Read it, search it, link to it, quote it. Nothing on this site is behind a login and nothing on it costs money. The research portal at research.indianstartupmap.com sells reports and exports, and the paid products section below covers those. Automated collection at a rate that degrades the site for other people is the one thing we will block, and if you want the data in bulk it is faster to ask: the route is on the licence page.

A listing here is not a certificate

This is the clause that matters. A page here reproduces what a government portal published about a company. It is not a certificate, not a verification, not an endorsement, and not a due diligence artefact. Do not use it as one, and do not present it to anyone else as one.

Registration is not an operating signal. A large share of registered startups are dormant, and we have no way to tell you which. The methodology sets out precisely what we hold, how precise each coordinate is, and the long list of things we do not know.

We are not the government

Indian Startup Map is an independent publication by Apexlayer Technologies. We are not DPIIT, not Startup India, and not affiliated with the Government of India. A page on this site is a listing, not an endorsement.

Nothing here is an official communication, and no page on this site can confer, confirm or withdraw a recognition, a registration or a benefit. The portals listed on the sources page are the authoritative ones.

No warranty

The data is provided as is, with no warranty of accuracy, completeness or fitness for any purpose. Some startups here are wrong, because some of the source records are wrong, and a snapshot is stale the moment it is taken. To the extent the law allows, Apexlayer Technologies is not liable for a decision taken on the basis of anything published here. That is not a disclaimer we hide behind: it is why every figure on the site is shown with its provenance and its precision.

Reuse, names and marks

Our counts, aggregates and rankings are free to reuse with attribution, and we would rather be quoted than protected. The licence says what is covered, and the citation page gives you something to paste. Company names and logos belong to their owners, appear only to identify the company a startup refers to, and imply no affiliation in either direction.

Paid products

The research portal at research.indianstartupmap.com sells three things, all from the register on this site and all under these terms. A Report (₹249) is one of the 241 reports as a PDF and as chapters in the portal, and it stays in your account. Library (₹749 a year) is every report, the feed with rows, Explore at 200 rows per search and backer portfolios in full, with no export. Pro (₹2,249 a year) is everything in Library plus every row in Explore, CSV and XLSX exports of up to 5,000 rows a file and 50,000 rows across 20 places per rolling 30 days. Prices include GST and are printed on the pricing page.

Every plan is one seat, tied to the email it was bought with, for use inside your own organisation and in the work you do for your own clients. You may quote figures from a report with attribution. You may not redistribute the PDF, an export, or a substantial part of either, in any form, whether given away or sold; the buyer's email is stamped in the running footer of every PDF at delivery for that reason. A report is a compilation of public records and our analysis of them; the records belong to nobody, the analysis, the design and the compilation are ours, and registration is not an operating signal in a report any more than on a page. Nothing in a report is investment, legal or commercial advice.

Sample first: Judge the free Lucknow report first: the whole thing is open. If your access isn't active within 1 working day of payment, we refund in full: trust@indianstartupmap.com. The full refund policy has the three other cases. Each term is a separate one-time payment through Razorpay in Indian rupees; nothing auto-renews. A GST invoice issued by Apexlayer Technologies Private Limited (GSTIN 06ABDCA5480F1ZT) is emailed with the access link, with the place of supply from the state you give at checkout and your GSTIN on it if you supply one. We may end access, with a refund of the unused term, if the redistribution clause above is breached, and we tell you what we saw.

Getting something fixed

Corrections at the source portal reach us on the next snapshot, and that is the authoritative place to make them. To flag an error on our side, or to ask for a logo or a startup to be removed, write to trust@indianstartupmap.com. We annotate rather than silently overwrite, so a corrected page will say what the portal says and what we believe.

The housekeeping

Apexlayer Technologies Private Limited (CIN U58201HR2025PTC135312), trading as Apexlayer Technologies, publishes this site and the research portal from its registered office at C/O WeWork India, DLF Forum, DLF Cyber City Phase III, Sector 24, Gurugram, Haryana 122002, India. These terms are read under Indian law. Before either of us goes to court we raise the issue in writing to legal@apexlayer.in and try in good faith to settle it within thirty days; after that the courts at Gurugram, Haryana, India have exclusive jurisdiction. Our liability under these terms is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, and nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited under Indian law. Our grievance officer under the IT Rules and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 is Sachin Gurjar, Director, at dpo@apexlayer.in, with the full block and the response windows on the contact page.

Startup India, DPIIT and the names shown in the data are marks of their owners; we are an independent publisher. If we change these terms, the changed page is the version that applies, and material changes get a note here rather than a silent edit.
