LEERA is a socially driven entrepreneurial venture, a brain child of two designers and an artisan from the Churu district of Rajasthan. Disha and Kairavi are young textile designers graduated in the year 2020 from NIFT Chennai. Amrita, is a self made women artisan from Sujangarh with her expertise in the craft of Bandhani and Shibori. What's unique about LEERA's formation is that the board consists of a perfect collaboration of an artisan and the designer to bridge the gap in rural and urban demands. LEERA: Livelihood Empowerment and Encouragement of Rural artisans, as the name suggests, aims to work for the empowerment and upliftment of rural artisans pan India. To begin with, LEERA has set up a cluster in Sujangarh where women unaware about the opportunities & importance of skills they hold, practiced the craft of Bandhani and Shibori, passionately. LEERA aims to empower lives of such artisans and voice their stories to the world. We strive to support such artisans by providing them opportunities by catering better quality products to the urban market, upgrading their skill set and focusing on holistic growth to bring about a sense of self reliance and independence in them. LEERA is currently focusing on home decor products: bed linen table linen etc. in Shibori which currently is not widely seen in the market.
