"About", because the map counts by coordinate and that figure counts by company. What this state's numbers show

Meghalaya's two leading labels are the same place: East Khasi Hills at 35.0% is the district, Shillong at 25.8% is the city inside it, and between them they carry 60.7% of the state. We list what the portal recorded rather than collapsing them. Recognition is 42.3% against 51.2% nationally, among the lower rates on the register, while the funding-signal rate sits above the national figure at 12.0%. No incubator in the state holds a Seed Fund approval.

One appears here only where the register holds more than a name for it: a description the company wrote about itself, and either a CIN or a website. 150 of the 326 Meghalaya registrations clear that bar. These are the 60 we hold the most for, best-evidenced first. Search reaches the rest.

It is a test of whether there is anything to read, not of whether the company is trading. Registration is not an operating signal. A large share of registered startups are dormant, and we have no way to tell you which. How we counted.

About this data

Indian Startup Map is an independent directory built from the Government of India's Startup India register and other public sources, snapshot 2026-08. We do not run the register, we do not own or represent any company on it, and nothing here is an endorsement of one. Company names and logos belong to their owners. Every source is listed.

A dot on the map may be wrong, and most of them are not an address. Most startups sit at the centre of their district, which is a label position and not a place. Where we do hold something finer it is a geocode of a registered office, which is frequently a founder's home rather than a place of business, so we round it and never publish the address line.

Registration is not an operating signal. A large share of registered startups are dormant, and we have no way to tell you which. Figures come from our own count of that snapshot and will differ from the government's own census, which counts differently.
