In their own words

The NEW Shop pitch deck The New Shop is world’s first targeted retail who knows its customers and what they buy. It is a chain of highly scalable high-speed retail “shop in shop” stores in alternative distribution locations such as budget hotels, co-working spaces, office complexes, universities, railway stations, hostels, gyms etc. for customers to try and buy new and unique lifestyle products that are relevant and curated for their needs. There are currently over 100 active stores in Delhi NCR and Jaipur and planning to grow to 1000+ by June 2020 and 10,000 stores by December 2023. The company’s vision is to become the largest retail chain in the world. The New Shop aggregates new age Indian brands (startups and MSMEs), working with them directly and providing them distribution and access to captive audience. Problem statement: Owing to poor distribution, 6 out of 7 products fail ! i.e. 85% failure rate. Organized retail penetration in India is very low at 9% compared to 85% in USA. This makes distribution too expensive and time consuming. High placement fees and long waiting time as too many brands are fighting for too little space. This makes distribution a key challenge for new product innovations. Product discoverability is a challenge for new products on online marketplaces as well, as ecommerce buys are more traditional and less adventurous, not a platform for habit breaking products. Impulse purchases, “touch and feel” and the “try before you buy” feelings of retail that are very necessary for new products can’t be replicated by online marketplaces. India is a country of big opportunities. Size of retail in India is expected to be 1.1 trillion dollar by 2020 from 680 billion dollar currently. Modern retail is expected to grow at 20-25% p.a. India’s consumer spending is to touch 4 trillion dollar by 2025, making it the third largest consumer market in the world. A Nielsen report stated that 59% of shoppers at modern retail said they loved to try new products. Modern trade outlets have emerged as innovation labs for those consumers who use such stores to experiment with new launches across categories. Breakthrough innovations have grown 7 times as fast in modern trade. The New Shop will solve the problem of distribution and discovery of consumer products across India and take the best of Indian products to the world.

Funding signals

We hold evidence classes, not events. There is no amount and no date here because we do not have them, and a class says only where the company was named. 4,140 of the 42,792 startups in Delhi carry a signal of some class.
