According to the National Statistical Office (NSO)’s Elderly in India 2021 report, there will be a rise in elderly population in India by 41% within a decade from 2021. Kerala State Planning Board Economic Review 2022 report states that Kerala is currently passing through the most critical stage of demographic transition of ‘population aging’ because of notable achievements made by the State in variables of fertility and mortality. The proportion of population above 60 years in Kerala is 16.5% and it is the highest for any Indian State. The state aims for ‘Active aging’, a holistic concept proposed by WHO in 2002 for a healthy old age life. There has been a steady rise in brain drain and migration of younger population to foreign countries for better job opportunities and living standards lately. This has caused a major strain on the older generation in our country. Numerous old age homes are coming up from both private and government sectors to circumvent these problems and they prove to be of significant help to the aging community. But the statistics show the real lacunae between the demand and supply in this sector. The volume of elderly is exponentially increasing, which would be far beyond that the upcoming old age homes/ eldercare facilities could possibly accommodate. Thoughts and efforts should be put in to provide various services for the elderly at their own abodes, maintaining all the comforts of their milieu. SanFerrero (SF) Leisure LLP is formed with the concept of providing various services for elder care at their homes in a decentralized manner. SF Leisure is a service facilitator with an aim of providing state of the art healthcare and hospitality services to create an ideal ‘Assistive Living Ecosystem’. It is envisioned to be scaled across various gated communities across Kerala & India. The core concept of SF Leisure is to convert any gated community living into an ideal assistive living ecosystem by providing a tailor-made blend of healthcare and hospitality services.
