Look at the fish vendors aound us across country.dead fishes, unhygienic conditions,people sitting on roads selling fish, pollution created by not properly disposing fish waste.Surely we are not looking this as our future for fisheries industry. I give an example, few years back people used to sell tea roadside with same unhygienic conditions, startups came, branded the product , opened up neat and clean shops, people enjoy drinking tea there. These companies are making 100's of crore. How? this we need to identify. I ask you, if an option is given to you to buy fresh fish, or deep freezed from a neat shop or a movable Trolly like ice cream trolly with deep freezer to keep fish fresh, from where will you buy from roadside or these branded shops or trolley.you won't mind paying little extra also for this. But a eco system the help of government is to be created. Mermaid is the first startup in the whole world working working on this concept, there is no such startup like this as in yet. Key innovation in Mermaid are: 1.we have designed a low cost trolly with a freezer with a cutting area and disposable unit for the waste. These waste would be collected and reused in some other domain. 2.we are in process of setting a a branded shop for fresh and frozen fish,all designes and branding tools are ready, the first shop may come at Nagpur 3.we are in a process of designing a system where the buyer can identify the date of capture of the fish, source from it is captured, etc.now we really don't know when we buy fish, how old it was freezed 4.we focus more on marketing fresh fish rather than freezed and the same arrangment is being made in the trolly as well as shops.
