In their own words

MSME Ministry of India has set a target to scale up the contribution of MSMEs to GDP to 50% by 2025 as India becomes a $5 trillion economy. Hence, the sector presents huge opportunity for SMEs engaged in this sector and consequently for Clime Finance. The Company estimates a market for $500 bn for MSMEs in India which it aims to target. The Company sees this as an opportunity to operate as a NBFC, primarily focusing on lending to small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) engaged in Climate adaptation and mitigation activities such as renewable energy, sustainable transport, sustainable agriculture; healthcare, and digital enterprises. We believe that women entrepreneurs are under-represented when it comes to access to capital for SMEs. We have specific focus to increase women representation in our portfolio companies at a minimum of 30%. Founder Mr. Inderpreet Singh Wadhwa is a successful entrepreneur with passion for sustainable ventures in emerging markets. He has over 30 years of experience building large scale infrastructure and technology companies. As the Founder, Former Executive Chairman and CEO of NYSE listed Azure Power he is credited with pioneering Solar Power Generation in India. He was instrumental in launching Azure’s Initial Public Offering (IPO), the first listing of Indian energy assets on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) in 2016 and public listing of India’s first solar green bond on the Singapore Stock Exchange in 2017. He was instrumental in raising over $2 billion in various forms of most competitive financings for solar power generation in India. Inderpreet has relentlessly worked to enable climate policies through Clean Trade initiatives across North America, Europe and Asia through his executive, advisory and teaching roles at Green Climate Fund, EPFL and Partners Group portfolio companies. His work has been highlighted in top tier publications such as Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Financial Times, Business Today and Economic Times and he is a sought after speaker in India and abroad. After tremendous success in scaling up solar power generation, Inderpreet has embarked upon the journey of democratizing access to finance for Green SMEs. Currently, at Clime Finance, he is simplifying (access to) debt finance for sustainable growth of Green SMEs through use of technology and innovative securitization. He is responsible for the overall strategy, capital formation, technology and organization development. Inderpreet graduated from Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley and has Bachelors in Electronics Engineering from G.N.D.U, Punjab. Inderpreet teaches a course on Climate Entrepreneurship at the College of Management of Technology at EPFL Lausanne and is an operating director/advisor to Partners Group Infrastructure team for their renewable energy investments in emerging markets. He is also an independent director on the board of Blu- Smart a 100% electric urban mobility company.

Funding signals

We hold evidence classes, not events. There is no amount and no date here because we do not have them, and a class says only where the company was named. 4,140 of the 42,792 startups in Delhi carry a signal of some class.
