The handicraft sector technically and statistically forms the second largest source of employment in India. It was having 23 million people engaged around this industry in the year 2002. Further, the employment increased from 65.72 lakh in 2005-06 to 76.17 lakh in 2010-11 and is growing continuously with employing mixed population till date in the sector.
